I left a cushy remote support job 9 days ago to focus all my energy on getting a job in software development.
I’ve read a lot of “I finally landed a developer job” posts over the years and would like to contribute something helpful back to the community of fellow aspiring developers. Or this might end up as a useful do not do this guide.
My name’s JD 👋
I’m a 27-year-old dude from Australia. Most of my career has been in support/logistics/project coordination type roles mostly in fortune 500 companies. My most recent job being an exception. I’ve spent the last 2 years working for small SAAS (software-as-a-service… a software tool with an ongoing subscription).
I studied marketing at university for a few years before dropping out after being exposed to the day-to-day life of marketers IRL.
I have just enrolled in an online bachelor of applied computing (second semester). The content is fairly basic so far — I’m treating this as a sales tool on my resume instead of a core learning tool.
